The Franke is the University of Chicago’s institute for creative and innovative work in established academic disciplines in the arts and humanities, encouraging new projects that cross traditional disciplinary and departmental lines. The Institute is defined as both a concept and a space, an idea that played into the ideas that led to a bold new logo, challenging the accepted notions of the usual immutable brand.
