MARIA GOEPPERT-MAYER
LECTURE HALL
Client: Department of Physics (Young-Kee Kim, Chair)
Design: Christopher G. Leather
2017
In 2017 the Department of Physics asked us to design a plaque to dedicate the lecture hall in Kersten Physics Teaching Center to Maria Goeppert-Mayer, the first woman to win the Nobel Prize for Physics. The request opened a door that led to a full environmental experience transforming the lobby of the lecture hall into a mini museum dedicated to bringing long-overdue attention to one of the department’s most accomplished scientists.
