After moving into the Division’s new home in the beautiful, yet austere William Eckhart Research Center in 2015, the Dean’s Office for the Physical Sciences Division decided they needed some artwork to bring character to their space. We were commissioned to create a large mural. The result was Physical Graphiti, a 4-panel, 7-foot square homage to the division’s history, hanging on the wall outside the office next to the elevators. Across from the mural, a glass wall adds to the open feel of the space, but didn’t provide the privacy desired by the division’s front desk occupant. Our solution was to manipulate the building’s reoccurring decorative window dot patterns into an organic veil of dots rising in a wave pattern that swells to provide a respite from the life in the fishbowl.
